Reprieve 1st of March ’19

autumn comes pp

At 4am it started to rain.

I don’t recall the last time I heard rain. Decent rain. It was over two months ago. I love the summer, but the garden is drying out down to the depths of itself.

The garden got a further watering with grey water to make sure it got a decent soaking through. The rain would only penetrate so far.

By mid morning any trace of rain clouds or showers was gone. The day went on with a growing intensity and brightness. After a few errands around town I ran all the electrical appliances that I needed to for the day while we harvested our solar power.

By midday the heat of the sun was rather intense. The rain freshened things up, but it will take a lot more before it soaks deep into the soil.

About Petit Paradis

I am on a journey with my family to transition as closely as practicable to a state of self-reliance in suburbia. I practice permaculture principles in our house, garden and community. We are on the southern coast of Western Australia. To our north is the rest of the world. To the south, Antarctica.
