March Observations 2019

97270-diafire_407301/03/2019 First decent rainfall for the year

20/03/2019 First call of the Western Banjo Frog in the backyard for the season. It is deep, booming, explosive and echoes around our backyard.

23/03/2019 Increased movement of flocks of White-tailed Black Cockatoos. Which is evidently why the Great Cocky Count is held around this time of the year.

22/03/2019 Cicadas still heard calling during hot weather despite light showers of rain.

Firetails finches in the garden eating from crab grass seeds.

Family of Red-shouldered wrens in the garden. Three females and a male losing his summer plumage.

About Petit Paradis

I am on a journey with my family to transition as closely as practicable to a state of self-reliance in suburbia. I practice permaculture principles in our house, garden and community. We are on the southern coast of Western Australia. To our north is the rest of the world. To the south, Antarctica.
